We present several experiments for evaluating a transaural audio system using parametric loudspeaker arrays. By using these loudspeakers based on ultrasonic radiation together with automatic alignment units we can enable binaural hearing without the use of cross-talk cancellation algorithms. Besides technical evaluation of loudspeaker directivity patterns and alignment unit accurateness we particularly evaluate loudspeaker equalization, localization performance, and full system functionality in several listening experiments. We thereby show that for constraint listening situations the presented system is able to reproduce binaural sources and provide evidence for further substantial system improvements.
